World War Two:

The Second World War began in Asia in 1937 with the second Sino-Japanese War and in 1939 in Europe. Most of the nations of the world were split into two factions: the Allies and the Axis Powers. More than sixty million people died. Everyone was at war: men, women and children; civilians and military of every country.

The war led to discoveries in medicine and science, including the atom bomb.
